Advantage Media Group, a Charleston, SC based book publishing house has an exciting opportunity for a talented editor/ writer.
The responsibilities include some or all of the following:
• Provide copyediting for Advantage titles
• Provide line editing for Advantage titles
• Provide proofing for Advantage titles
• Provide copywriting services for select Advantage initatives
Editing and writing may be on topics including but not limited to: business, finance, marketing, management, motivation, self-help, biography/autobiography
Job Qualifications:
• English or literature background (degrees preferred)
• Hi level of competence in Microsoft Word
• Must be VERY organized
• Must work quickly
Positions are in Charleston, South Carolina. Advantage is a high growth, high energy company. Limited consideration will be given to candidates outside of the Charleston, SC metro area.

Position Title: Publicity Manager ( full-time )
Position Description:
Advantage Media Group, a publisher of leading business, self help, and motivational books, has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual who is an aggressive publicist. You will implement the public relations plans for select Advantage Media Group book titles. The responsibilities of the position are as follows: Copywriting - Write marketing materials to support campaigns: ( Direct Mail, Media Kit, Press Releases )
Public Relations - Official liaison to media
- Pitch author / book to the media for interviews, stories
- Coordinate interviews, stories
- Write and issue all press releases
- Pursue earned media opportunities
Job Qualifications: - Must be EXTREMELY detail oriented, able to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Superior copywriting skills
- Superior communication skills, including face-to-face, phone and e-mail
- Diligent work ethic, dependable, and ethical
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Desire to meaningfully contribute to the success of a growing organization
- Aggressive, energetic work ethic, dependable, and ethical
- 3-5 years experience preferred. Direct experience in publishing industry a huge plus.
- Minimum of 2 years post high school education required

Position Title: Graphic Designer
Position Description:
Advantage Media Group, a leading publisher of business, motivation, and self-help books has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual who is a graphic designer.
Reporting to the Director of Production, this position will oversee design of marketing materials. In addition, this individual will be involved in book cover design and the interior layout and formatting process for assigned books.
Responsibilities include generating quality and timely marketing materials and interior and cover designs for assigned books. Designer will create cover designs and mechanicals for assigned titles; sizing and cropping all art; implementing designs and page makeup specifications; reviewing all stages of proof, resolving layout problems, and marking all editorial changes; and reviewing front matter in pages. The interiors should utilize all alternatives: standard, pick-up, and modification.
All applicants must exhibit strong computer skills including Quark Xpress, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Web design experience is a HUGE plus!
Qualified candidates must also be self-starters with strong organizational skills and ability to work within a team environment.
Positions are in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Advantage Media Group is a high growth, high energy company. Professional development programs offered.
